Dr Pavitra Patnaik was born and brought up in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh in the year 1972. He did his schooling from Ingraham English School affiliated to ICSE and ISC boards, New Delhi. Through All India Pre-Medical entrance exam he got selected for MBBS , securing a very high rank of 405 all over India,in the year 1991 at one of the most prestigious medical colleges of India- Grant Medical College, Sir JJ Group of hospitals Bombay. Subsequently he got selected for his post – graduation in General Surgery at Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital Mumbai.
Later in 2003 he topped the All India entrance exam for Superspeciality courses and got selected in Neurosurgery. He completed MCh. Neurosurgery from S.R.M.C. Chennai under Professor Damodar Rout and Professor K. Ganesh, pioneers in vascular Neurosurgery and Spine surgery respectively,in the year 2003-2006.
Dr. Patnaik sir , joined Superspeciality hospital GMC Nagpur in July 2006 and was amongst the first few to become life member of Nagpur Neuro Society way back in 2006. He is a life member of Neurological Society of India , MCNS and IMA. He has been instrumental in developing ,strengthening and establishing the department of Neurosurgery at Superspeciality hospital GMC Nagpur at the time when there was extreme shortage of hands and Neurosurgeons in the city. He has a vast experience and exposure to a multitude of complex Neurosurgical cases. He has been invited as an external examiner for MCh Neurosurgery at various Superspeciality institutes.
His passion for teaching, his excellent surgical ethics & skills and a very humble & friendly attitude towards his subordinates and colleagues is known to all.   2. He worked as Associate Professor in Neurosurgery at Sir JJ Group of Hospitals Mumbai, Grant Medical College , also his Alma- mata, for 3 years .
  3. Worked as head of Neuro trauma at the largest level -1 Trauma care centre in Maharashtra for 3 years. 
  4. Under his able guidance and supervision first cadaveric organ retrieval was performed in Trauma centre GMC Nagpur, In 2018 – the first retrieval in any government institute in Maharashtra. 
  5. He was awarded and felicitated by IMA Nagpur as the COVID warrior for converting Trauma centre in GMC  to COVID hospital in record time of less than a month and serving with additional charge of Covid administrator during the pandemic. 
  6. He is a Professor and post graduate MCh. teacher at Superspeciality hospital GMC Nagpur.
